1. African Women Rising
AFW works in partnership with community-based groups to improve the lives of women in post-conflict areas of Africa. Since its launch in 2006, AFW has been empowering women after war by providing technical skills and support for success via education, agriculture, and microfinance training.
2. Alpha Resource Center
Alpha Resource Center is a Non-profit aimed at empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Santa Barbara. Everyone has a valuable contribution to make, and Alpha Resource Center supports this through their various programs centered around supporting families, creating opportunities, and fostering belongings.
3. Amazon Aid Foundation
Amazon Aid Foundation educates and activates global citizens to protect the Amazon through art, science, multimedia and film. Their vision is to preserve the Amazon rainforest for the health of the planet and for future generations to enjoy.
4. Amazon Watch
Amazon Watch is a nonprofit organization founded in 1996 to protect the rainforest and advance the rights of Indigenous peoples in the Amazon Basin. We partner with Indigenous and environmental organizations in campaigns for human rights, corporate accountability and the preservation of the Amazon’s ecological systems.
5. AHA (Attitude Harmony Achievement)
AHA! equips teenagers, educators, and parents with social and emotional intelligence to dismantle apathy, prevent despair, and interrupt hate-based behavior.
6. Coastal Housing Coalition
The Coastal Housing Coalition is dedicated to finding solutions to the South Coast’s housing crisis and reversing the adverse impacts the lack of workforce housing is having on our economy, environment, and civic life. They do this through advocacy, research, and special projects.
7. CommUnify
CommUnify works to the benefit of all members of our community, by bringing stability to the lives of those community members that most need it. CommUnify is a nonprofit organization that works collaboratively with the community to find innovative solutions to assist Santa Barbara County residents in living healthy, resilient and financially secure lives. We offer a variety of education and support services aimed at promoting the independence of individuals of all ages.
8. Community Environmental Council
Recognized as a 2020 California Nonprofit of the Year, CEC is one of the nation’s most accomplished environmental action nonprofits. For 50 years, the Community Environmental Council has been a leader of the modern environmental movement, driving local action to affect global change.
9. Direct Relief
Direct Relief is a humanitarian aid organization, active in all 50 states and more than 80 countries, with a mission to improve the health and lives of people affected by poverty or emergencies – without regard to politics, religion, or ability to pay.
10. Environmental Defense Center
The Environmental Defense Center works to protect and enhance the local environment through education, advocacy, and legal action. Since 1977, they have empowered community-based organizations to advance environmental protection. Their program areas include climate and energy, protecting open space and wildlife, clean water, and the Santa Barbara Channel. They primarily work within Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo counties.
11. Foodbank of Santa Barbara County
The Foodbank of Santa Barbara County is ending hunger and transforming the health of Santa Barbara County through good nutrition. They serve the community by acting as a leader and expert in improving the nutritional health of our county through increased food security and education.
12. Friendship Center
Friendship Center provides innovative activities and programs that honor individuality, promote socialization, and foster a compassionate community for aging adults. Caregivers receive respite support and education, enabling them to achieve balance in their lives.
13. Girls Inc of Greater Santa Barbara
Girls Inc. inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold, through direct service and advocacy. Girls inc of greater Santa Barbara’s board is dedicated to assuring high-impact services for girls in Santa Barbara, Goleta, and beyond. They set clear strategic direction that supports our community’s needs and their National organization’s bold goals to equip girls and teens to navigate gender, economic, and social barriers, and grow up healthy, educated, and independent.
14. Grace Fisher Foundation
The Grace Fisher Foundation’s mission is to bring the arts to kids of all abilities. Grace Fisher has been a source of inspiration to many. She began her foundation after a rare polio-like disease that paralyzed her from the neck down at the age of 17. Now 23 years old, Grace is a prolific composer and artist, and remains dedicated to connecting children living with disabilities to music, art, dance, and other forms of artistic expression.
15. Heal The Ocean
Heal the Ocean is a 501(c)3 non-profit that focuses on wastewater infrastructure, as well as ocean dumping practices that have contributed to ocean pollution. They operate out of Santa Barbara County, and their methods serve as a model for other coastal communities across the country.
16. Hospice of Santa Barbara
Hospice of Santa Barbara is a volunteer organization that offers free counseling, support groups, resources, and community education meeting the emotional, social, and spiritual needs of anyone experiencing the impact of life-threatening illness or grieving the death of a loved one.
17. JAMS
JAMS provides free and low-cost access to music mentorship, instruction, songwriting workshops, jam sessions and musical production. Their goal is to offer this to low-income individuals and at-risk youth as well as adults and children with special needs. They also seek to bring kids and adults from different socioeconomic backgrounds together in the creative process, thus using music as a transformative tool for social change.
18. Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation
The Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that supports environmental education in the schools and communities of Hawaiʻi. Their mission is to provide students with experiences that will enhance their appreciation for and understanding of their environment so they will be lifelong stewards of the earth.
19. Leading from Within
Leading From Within invests in leaders to make meaningful changes on complex community challenges in Santa Barbara County and beyond. They bring social sector leaders together to grow as individuals and improve their effectiveness as leaders, sustain each other as peers to keep leading and learning, and increase these leaders’ capacity to be collaborators for the common good.
20. Lobero Theatre Foundation
The mission of the Lobero Theatre Foundation is to maintain and operate the historic Lobero Theatre as a performing arts center and cultural asset to the community of Santa Barbara. The theatre itself serves as the home stage for the major local performing arts organizations and dance schools, and acts as a meeting space for corporate, nonprofit, and social groups.
21. Los Padres ForestWatch
Los Padres ForestWatch protects wildlife, wilderness, water, and sustainable access throughout the Los Padres National Forest and the Carrizo Plain National Monument. We achieve this through education, advocacy, and when necessary, legal action for the benefit of our communities, climate, and future generations.
22. Mental Joe
Mental Joe is a veteran-owned nonprofit that uses apparel to inspire hope, spark conversations, and to raise funds to educate and financially assists those in need by partnering with non-traditional treatment options. When you wear Mental Joe Apparel, we come together as a community to raise funds for mental wellness, so we can help those who need it most to Conquer the Battle Within.
23. Move SBC
MOVE Santa Barbara County (formerly SBBIKE+COAST advocates for equitable county-wide infrastructure for walking, cycling, and public transit and empowers and educates residents to choose active and sustainable forms of transportation.
24. Never Give Up (Gwendolyn Strong Foundation)
Gwendolyn Strong Foundation works to fill in the gaps needed to create real change and build a more inclusive future for those with disabilities.
They provide practical family support, fund research, and are building the first inclusive playground in Santa Barbara. They work to inspire courage, foster inclusion and create a kinder world around the globe.
Above all else, they NEVER GIVE UP.
25. Rainforest Foundation US
The Rainforest Foundation US is a non-profit NGO working in Central and South America. It is one of the first international organizations to support the indigenous peoples of the world’s rainforests in their efforts to protect their environment and fulfill their rights to land, life and livelihood.
26. Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation
The Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation works to ensure all SB County students receive performing arts experiences and education.
Bowl Outreach provides essential support and resources to performing arts programs for K-12 youth in-school, out-of-school, during school and after school.
Annual grant cycles in the Spring and Fall provide critical funding to a variety of performing arts programs from music, to dance, to drama, to spoken word and more.
27. Santa Barbara Channelkeeper
Santa Barbara Channnelkeeper’s mission is to protect and restore the Santa Barbara Channel and its watersheds through science-based advocacy, education, field work and enforcement. We’re proud to have volunteered as a team in thier corporate pickup challenge through thier Watershed Brigade cleaup program.
28. Santa Barbara Community College Foundation (SBCC Foundation)
The SBCC Foundation has provided Santa Barbara City College with private philanthropic support since 1976, serving as the vehicle through which individuals and organizations may invest in the college and its students. As an independent 501c3 nonprofit organization and partner to SBCC, the SBCC Foundation provides more than $5 million annually for student success programs, scholarships, book grants, emergency funds, and other critical needs of the college.
29. Santa Barbara Education Foundation
Santa Barbara Education Foundation (SBEF) provides and supports programs that enrich the academic, artistic, and personal development of all students in the Santa Barbara Unified School District. Through collaboration with community partners, Santa Barbara Education Foundation creates opportunities for students in the Santa Barbara Unified School District and oversees a number of signature programs serving students in the district.
30. Santa Barbara Foundation
For over 92 years, the Santa Barbara Foundation has been a catalyst for change. They analyze issues to identify challenges that burden people every day in Santa Barbara County. They convene community stakeholders to build coalitions and partner with nonprofits and other leaders working on the front lines. Their work charts a direction and mobilizes people like you to support the dynamic initiatives that make this comminnty a better place, now and for generations to come.
31. Santa Barbara Wildlife Care Network
The Santa Barbara Wildlife Care Network (SBWCN) serves to rescue, rehabilitate and return to the wild sick, injured, orphaned, or oil-impaired wild birds, reptiles, amphibians, and small mammals in Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties and to educate the public about living in harmony with wildlife.
32. ShelterBox
ShelterBox USA hand delivers emergency shelter to families around the world who have been displaced by disaster or conflict. ShelterBox is a global nonprofit organization made up of people who believe that shelter is a basic human right. They provide tools that enable people to rebuild homes and transform their lives.
33. Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation
Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation advocates for families living in Santa Barbara, Ventura, and San Luis Obispo counties that have a child with cancer by providing financial, educational, and emotional support. They’re commited to serving as the lead agency for instilling resilience in families experiencing pediatric cancer.
34. Unite to Light
Over a billion people live without electricity. Access to clean, affordable light and energy is critical to improving health, education and prosperity. Unite to Light is dedicated to providing low-cost solar light and power to those without electricity across the globe. Unite to Light also has projects for which we raise funds focused on the areas of education, midwives, disaster response and homelessness.
35. United Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Barbara County (UBGC)
United Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Barbara County (UBGC) is a non-profit youth development agency that serves children ages 5-18 years old, from 10 locations across Santa Barbara County. Their mission is to enable all young people to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens
