For decades Oniracom has proudly supported all of the Jack Johnson camp’s nonprofit initiatives as a marketing and technology partner including the Kokua Hawaii Foundation and its Kokua Festival, Plastic Free Hawaii, Johnson Ohana Foundation, All At Once, and most recently BYOBottle.org.
The collaborative BYOBottle Campaign encourages artists, venues, festivals, businesses and fans to reduce plastic pollution in the music industry by promoting reusable water bottles and water refill stations both backstage and front of house at music events.
The campaign is modeled after Green Music Australia’s BYOBottle Campaign. Through The Sustainable Concerts Working Group (SCWG), we’ve built off that initiative to amplify the BYOBottle commitment to artists and venues globally.
Our ties to Jack Johnson run deep, as does our passion for music and environmental causes. Oniracom began at the crossroads of music and philanthropy, starting as the agency of record for the then little-known artist named Jack Johnson in 2001. Jack aimed to use his talent to benefit environmental and humanitarian concerns. We immersed ourselves in supporting this dream.
We developed his website, eCommerce store, cultivated the online discussion forum, integrated a newsletter and all in the days before social media, smartphones and tablets. Oniracom went on the road to manage Jack’s merchandise, worked to connect his community between the digital properties and in-person events, and captured and published content for fans.
Connecting with fans, while taking full advantage of the social, streaming, apps, mobile and digital world exploding around us, we built a cause-driven global community. Jack’s dream was realized: millions raised for compelling causes through sold-out stadiums, merchandise sales, and nonprofit donations.
Even though days of VIP globetrotting with Jack’s band are long behind us, we continue to vett, test, integrate and roll out new technologies for Jack as we have the past two decades. We’ve gone on to become a community partner of our home town venue the Santa Barbara Bowl which launched water refill stations and handed out thousands of steel pint cups to every audience member.
We couldn’t be prouder of our role in BYOBottle, and the amazing opportunity to join partners including the Santa Barbara Bowl and Jack Johnson at the forefront of this movement.
